This is not a new year-new you post. It’s a post-Yule post. If you haven’t watched Die Hard and Elf at least twice each by now then that is your priority. I invite you to consider that the messages of all those movies you watched over the holidays are messages to hold close and live by all year.

Most new year posts exhort you to shed the tinsel and baubles, the fun and frivolity of the mid-winter festival and juice-blend-cleanse your way to a new self. I will not be doing that. I will, to paraphrase Mary Oliver, be asking you to consider what the soft animal of your body would love.

Here are some suggestions:

Enjoy having a crush – read this

Read under a blanket –  read this

Find some form of movement that you crave to do – check out this and this

Discover what your sexual self is most excited by and explore consensual and playful ways to get those needs met – maybe come and talk to me about that? Email me about coaching: anita.cassidy@alethya.com

Listen to fewer podcasts and sing along to more music – here is a playlist that goes with my short story, Bulletproof, and another that went with my debut novel, Appetite

Accept or act – watch Eckhart Tolle

Wishing you all the best for 2025.
